MedAssets Honors Suppliers Containing Costs of Healthcare Delivery
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
MedAssets Inc. (NASDAQ:MDAS) today announced the recognition of several
suppliers for their role in helping healthcare organizations control
costs in the face of immense operating challenges. Tom Caldwell, vice
president of National Accounts, Baxter Healthcare Corporation (Baxter),
received the 2010 President's Supplier Award for his leadership and
exemplary sales and market growth throughout a long-term career. In
addition, Phillips Healthcare and Bergelectric were recognized for
delivering the highest amount of total dollar and percentage savings to
MedAssets customers in 2010. In total, more than 200 suppliers were
awarded for cost containment achievements. All winners were recognized
at the 2011 MedAssets Healthcare Business Summit held April 25-29.
As one of the leading providers of healthcare supply chain management
solutions, MedAssets develops relationships with suppliers in order to
help healthcare providers improve their financial health without impact
to care quality. The group purchasing agreements support cooperation and
competitive pricing for the high-quality goods and services hospitals
need to deliver care in their communities.
"Tom has provided valuable savings to MedAssets customers, and has
demonstrated superior contract value which has led to exemplary sales
and market share growth for both MedAssets and Baxter," said Rand
Ballard, senior executive vice president, chief operating officer and
chief customer officer, MedAssets. "The supplier awards provide insight
into the many factors that impact the costs of care delivery. By
providing more affordable supplies and devices, companies like Baxter,
Philips and Bergelectric help to alleviate the margin pressures
hospitals are facing. In large part, they help to create value and make
care more affordable."
President's Supplier Award
Caldwell has held a long-term career at Baxter serving in multiple
executive roles. His most recent position was Vice President of Sales
where he spent the past 11 years working with group purchasing
organizations (GPOs), including MedAssets. Caldwell was involved with
developing the business relationship between Baxter Healthcare and
MedAssets, and he was instrumental in negotiating the last two
MedAssets/Baxter IV agreements. Caldwell recently announced his
retirement from Baxter after 34 years in the industry.
